Saint Lucia: West Indies defeated Afghanistan by 104 runs in the 40th game of the ICCT20 World Cup.


Chasing 219 runs from the West Indies, Afghanistan's entire team was bowled out for 114 runs.


The most successful batsman in Afghanistan was Ibrahim Zardan, who scored 38 runs. Other notable scorers included Gulbuddin Naib, who scored 7, Azmatullah Umarzai, who scored 23, Karim Jannat, who scored 14, and captain Rashid Khan, who scored 14.


For the West Indies, McCoy claimed three wickets, while Moti and Aqeel Hussain claimed two and two wickets, respectively. Al-Zari Joseph and Andre Russell each claimed one wicket.

Afghanistan had won the toss and asked the West Indies to bat first in the final Group C match of the major tournament.


Nicholas Pooran had the most impressive performance for the West Indies team, scoring 98 runs off 53 balls with eight sixes and six fours in an aggressive innings. Johnson-Charles was out after 27 balls and 43 runs. Ruman Powell, the captain, was out for 26 runs after Shai Hope scored 25 runs.


Afghanistan tested 7 of their bowlers in this match, Gulbuddin Naib dismissed 2 players, while Naveen ul Haq and Azmatullah Umarzai dismissed 1 player each.

This is the last Group C match in the mega event, both teams are unbeaten in Group C and have already qualified for the Super 8 stage.
