Only two runs were scored by Afghanistan's Najeebullah Zadran. Azmatullah Omarzai scored five runs, while Gulbuddin Naib scored four. Rashid Khan, the captain, got two runs off one ball while Mohammad Nabi scored 14 runs off 16 balls.
Brian Masaba and Kosmas Kiwuta of Uganda each claimed two wickets, while Alpesh Ramajani claimed one wicket.

After hitting Fazal Haq with the first ball, Ugandan opener Ronic Patel gave the side optimism for a successful start. However, that optimism was short-lived, as the Afghan spinner claimed two wickets off Patel and Roger Makasa in his next two deliveries. Pauline took the lead.
