Japan defeated Pakistan in the final of the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament

Tokyo: Japan defeated Pakistan in the final of the 30th Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament.


The match between the two teams was tied with two goals each after the penalty shoot-outs in which Japan defeated Pakistan 1-4.

From the start of the final between Pakistan and Japan in Ipoh, Malaysia, both teams attacked each other's goal post.

Japan took the lead in the twelfth minute of the game through Sirin Tanaka, which lasted until half-time, before Pakistan's Ejaz Ahmed scored a field goal in the 34th minute to end the lead.

Abdul Rahman scored a goal in the 37th minute to give Pakistan the lead, but Matsumoto scored a field goal in the 47th minute to level the match at 2-2.

Pakistan team could not perform in the penalty shoot-outs stage. Rana Waheed Ashraf, Arshad Liaquat could not score on behalf of Pakistan, the only goal was scored by Imad Butt.


Japan won the penalty shoot-outs with 1-4 goals to claim the title of the event.


Pakistan hockey team was declared the silver medalist of the event. It may be remembered that Pakistan won the Browns medal in the previous event. The man of the match award of the final went to Rana Waheed Ashraf, while Sufyan was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
