Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla has said that only if the government gives permission, the Indian cricket team can go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy.
Talking to ANI, Rajeev Shukla said, "We will do only what our government allows us to do in relation to the Champions Trophy." We send our team only if the Indian government gives us permission. We will go according to the government's decision.
The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled in February next year in Pakistan and in this regard the draft schedule has been sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
For the Champions Trophy 2025, PCB has prepared a schedule to hold matches at three venues which include Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
According to the claim of Cricket Info, a website covering cricket, PCB has scheduled all the matches of the Indian team in Lahore, while the final of the event will also be played in Lahore itself.
The purpose of scheduling India's matches in one city is to limit team movement and complete security arrangements.
Apart from this, the purpose of scheduling the matches in Lahore is also to provide an easy facility for the fans of the Indian team to come to Pakistan through the Wagah border.
It should be noted that Pakistan had previously hosted the Asia Cup played in 2023, but in this tournament, India's matches were held in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model.
The last time the Indian team came to Pakistan was in 2008 to play the Asia Cup.
Similarly, due to political and domestic tensions, the last mutual series between the two countries was played in 2013-2012.
It should be remembered that the Pakistani team will defend the title in the ICC Champions Trophy next year.
