According to Indian media reports, after the defeat of Rajasthan Royals in the second play-off match of IPL, former cricketer and head coach Kumar Sangakkara was asked if he is interested in coaching the Indian team.

The veteran cricketer replied that the Indian board's top executives had not contacted him, and he did not have time!


Former cricketers Ricky Ponting, Andy Flower, and Justin Langer all refused to coach the Indian side.


On the other side, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that no communication has been made with Australian cricketers Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer for coaching the Indian squad.

He further said that we want to bring in people as head coaches who understand the structure of the Indian cricket team, coaches who have deep knowledge of the framework of domestic cricket.


Jay Shah had hinted about the new coach that our new coach could be Indian.

On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, the team that reached the final of IPL, is considered as the favorite for the position.
